A Midwinter Night's Dram Act 4 is the fourth annual release in High West's port-finished rye series, bottled at 49.3% in a 750ml bottle. It is a Utah straight rye whiskey, built on a blend of ryes of varying ages.
The rye is finished in French oak port wine casks and French Limousin oak. The port adds dark cherry and cocoa, while the rye contributes pepper, grain and structure.
The nose brings brandied cherries, Calimyrna figs, allspice, grapefruit zest and vanilla caramel. The palate has dark cherry, cocoa, cinnamon and spiced plum, and the finish is warming, with rye spice and lingering port sweetness.
