The seventh release in High West's annual A Midwinter Night's Dram series, a Utah straight rye finished in French oak port wine casks and French Limousin oak. It is bottled at 49.3% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The port casks add dark cherry, cocoa, fig and baking spice to the rye's pepper. The rye blend and port barrel selection vary a little from year to year.
On the nose come brandied cherries, Calimyrna figs and allspice, with dark cherry, cocoa and cinnamon on the palate. The finish is warming with rye spice and lingering port sweetness.
