High West Double Rye is a blend of two straight rye whiskeys from High West Distillery in Park City, Utah. One is a 2-year-old rye from a 95% rye mashbill; the other is an older rye distilled in High West's own pot still. It is bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, in a 750ml bottle.
The younger rye brings cinnamon, clove, anise and eucalyptus, while the older one adds caramel sweetness and woody vanilla.
The nose is mint, clove, cinnamon and dark chocolate with gin-like botanicals. The palate opens with rye spice, then menthol and herbal tea, and the finish sweetens slowly.
