High West Yippee Ki-Yay is a blended straight rye whiskey from High West Distillery in Park City, Utah. This is Batch 19-C27, in a 75cl bottle.
Straight rye whiskeys of different ages are blended, then finished in French vermouth casks and Syrah wine barrels. The vermouth brings botanical, herbal notes, including wormwood, along with a dry fortified wine character. The Syrah barrels add dark fruit, pepper and tannin.
The result is a rye that keeps its spice while taking on wine and botanical layers. Blend ratios and cask selection vary a little from one batch to the next.
