This is Highland Park 18 Year Old from Orkney, a single malt bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. This is Batch 2018.
The whisky is matured in a high proportion of first-fill sherry-seasoned European oak casks. Orkney peat with a heather character gives it a gentle smoke. It is non-chill filtered.
The nose combines heather smoke with dried apricot, dark chocolate, orange zest and polished leather. On the palate there are honey-roasted nuts, gingerbread and sweet spice with a faint thread of smoke. The finish is long and warming, with soft peat, sherried fruit and oak spice.
