Valfather is a Highland Park single malt, the last of three special edition Viking Legend releases. It is named for Odin, the Norse god linked with wisdom, sorcery, poetry, death, wolves and ravens.
It is the most heavily peated whisky Highland Park had made at the time, and it is matured entirely in refill casks so that the peat sits alongside subtler layers of flavour. It won gold at the 2020 World Whisky Awards. The packaging was created by Jim Lyngvild, a Danish designer and artist.
The flavours are described as syrupy sweet apple, fragrant pear, crème brûlée, toasted cedarwood and smoked paprika.
