Highland Park – 2005 20 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice (59.7%)

This is a 20 year old Highland Park, distilled in 2005 and selected by Gordon & MacPhail for its Connoisseurs Choice range. It is bottled at a cask strength of 59.7%. Highland Park stands in Kirkwall on Orkney and is described as Scotland's most northerly distillery. It is known for hand floor malting, maturation in damp stone warehouses and a heathery, gently smoky peat. This bottling matured in a first-fill sherry butt. The sherry-laden oak and light smoke are said to bring together dried meat, red berries and warm spices.
