This is a Highland Park 21 Year Old single malt from Orkney, released in 2020 at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The casks were laid down in November 1998.
It is a vatting of 36 casks: bourbon hogsheads, first-fill sherry casks of American and European oak, and ex-Rioja wine casks. Every cask is at least 21 years old.
The nose combines tropical fruit, toasted almonds, nutmeg and floral peat smoke. The palate is delicate yet complex, with lemon zest, fenugreek, honey, cinnamon, caramelised apple and smoked paprika. The finish brings woody spices, citrus oil and heathery peat smoke.
