Scarabus is an Islay single malt from Hunter Laing & Co., bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle without colouring or chill-filtration. The name comes from a place on Islay dating back to the 13th century, said to mean a rocky place in Old Norse. The packaging takes its inspiration from John Francis Campbell, born on Islay, who created the sunshine recorder and gathered a large collection of Celtic folklore tales. The nose offers Islay peat smoke and sea salt. The palate brings warming leather, stewed rhubarb and a sweet vanilla note, leading to a rich, lingering finish.
