A blended malt Scotch whisky from Hunter Laing, part of its Journey Series. It is made only from single malts from several Islay distilleries, with no grain whisky, and bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
Some of the whisky was matured in bourbon hogsheads, which add vanilla and caramel sweetness alongside the peat.
The nose is clearly smoky, with wood smoke, ash and tar over malt and vanilla. The palate is powerful and peaty, with brine, seawater and seaweed, a slightly oily texture and a little caramel. The finish is long, smoky and salty, with peat, ash and bonfire smoke.
