The Hearach is a single malt distilled at the Isle of Harris Distillery in Tarbert and matured at Ardhasaig in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts. These 500-litre casks are coopered in Huelva, Spain. The whisky is lightly peated, at 12-15 ppm, and is bottled at 46% ABV in a 75cl bottle, non-chill filtered and with no artificial colouring.
It is married in batches of around 12,000 bottles for a minimum of 16 weeks.
The nose brings cinnamon, orange peel and cloves, with mixed herbs and a creamy white chocolate note. On the palate there is wood smoke and walnut shells, then dried thyme and burnt oranges, with vanilla pods and a little clove. The finish is long, with leather and liquorice.
