The Hearach is the first release from Isle of Harris, an Outer Hebridean single malt in a 750ml bottle.
It is made from spirit matured in first fill ex-bourbon casks and first fill ex-Oloroso and Fino sherry butts. The spirits are then married in batches for at least 12 weeks before bottling.
The tasting notes describe gentle peat smoke and toasted malt, with apple sauce and machair flowers such as white clover. Mixed spices follow, along with candied ginger, vanilla and honeycomb, and the finish is a long clotted cream note with a lasting hint of new leather.
