Isle of Raasay 5 (2019/2024) – Peated Chinkapin Oak (70cl, 61.3%)

This is a 5 year old single cask from Isle of Raasay, part of the Na Sia Single Cask Series. It was distilled in 2019 and bottled in 2024 at 61.3%, in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour. The whisky spent all five years in a cask of American chinkapin oak. The spirit was made entirely on the island, using peat-dried malt. The nose pairs strong wood smoke with blackberries, ripe cherries and dark grapes. On the palate the spicy oak sits alongside cherry and redcurrant, with smoke throughout. The finish is lingering and smoky, with a gentle fruit sweetness.
