Isle of Raasay – 5 Year Old Single Cask #18/721 Peated Red Wine Cask (70cl, 59.9%)

This is a five-year-old peated single malt from the Isle of Raasay distillery, drawn from a single Bordeaux red wine cask. It was bottled in 2024 at cask strength, 59.9%, in a 70cl bottle. It is not chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The cask shows the peated Bordeaux component of the Na Sia recipe on its own, rather than blended with the other parts. The distillery fills this component into 220-litre European oak casks that previously held three vintages of red wine, which adds dark fruit and tannin to the spirit. The nose has seaweed, ripe cherries, woodsmoke and cherry syrup. On the palate, strong woodsmoke and black cherries come with a salty sea-breeze note, light oak spice and an oily texture. Smoke and dark fruit stay together in the finish.
