Isle of Raasay Cask Strength Release is a Hebridean single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 61.3%. It is the stronger counterpart to the distillery's The Draam, made to the same six-cask recipe.
Lightly peated, non-chill-filtered and natural in colour, it combines peated and unpeated spirit matured separately in first fill ex-rye whiskey casks, virgin Chinkapin oak and first fill Bordeaux red wine casks.
The nose brings sherried berries, blackcurrant, raisin, lemon peel and apricot over gentle coastal smoke. The palate has red wine richness, dark fruit, toffee, black pepper and salty peat smoke. The finish is long, with toasted almonds, marmalade and sweet oak.
