Isle of Raasay – Na Sia Single Cask 5 Year Old (Virgin Chinkapin Oak, Peated)

This is a 5 year old peated Hebridean single malt from Isle of Raasay, part of the distillery's Na Sia Single Cask Series. It was matured in freshly charred and toasted virgin Chinkapin oak, Quercus muehlenbergii, an American white oak native to Central and Eastern North America. Heavily toasted and charred virgin oak gives intense flavour and colour early in maturation, and caramelised wood sugars add richness. It is bottled at cask strength, non-chill filtered and with natural colour. The notes are butterscotch, dark fruit, warming spice and sweet smoke.
