Isle of Raasay – Oak Species Hungarian Oak Oloroso Sherry Barrique 4 Year Old (70cl, 50%)

This is a four-year-old limited release from Isle of Raasay, part of its Oak Species Maturation Series. It combines peated and unpeated Raasay spirit, each matured separately in ex-Oloroso sherry barriques of Hungarian oak from the Zemplén region. The spirit was distilled between January and June 2021, vmarried in February 2026 and bottled in April 2026 at 50% ABV, giving 8,000 bottles of 70cl. It is natural colour and non-chill-filtered. Earlier releases in the series used new Hungarian oak; here the wood previously held Oloroso, which the distillery says softens the oak's spice and adds dried fruit. The nose offers orange peel, roasted hazelnut, geranium, cinnamon, ginger and sponge. The palate brings ginger, coffee, sherry and dark chocolate, and the finish holds sweet orange, ginger and smoked ham.
