R-02 is a lightly peaty, fruity single malt from the Isle of Raasay distillery, bottled at 46.4%. It combines peated and unpeated spirit.
The spirit is matured in a mix of first-fill ex-rye whisky casks, virgin Chinkapin oak and first-fill Bordeaux wine casks. Chinkapin oak gives darker fruit flavours than the usual American white oak. The distillery was founded in 2017 by Alasdair Day and Bill Dobbie.
On the palate it is typically described as dark berries, earthy smoke, subtle sea salt and juicy plums.
