Isle of Skye 8 Year Old (70cl, 40%)

Isle of Skye 8 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It combines peated island malts, softer Speyside and Highland malts and grain whisky, all aged for at least eight years in oak casks. It is chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The recipe goes back to Ian Macleod, who in 1933 brought together selected whiskies from Skye and the Scottish mainland. Ian Macleod Distillers now looks after the brand. The nose is gently sweet, with floral and citrus notes, a fine thread of smoke, vanilla, oak and malt. On the palate, peat smoke, toffee, vanilla and heather follow a sweet start and a viscous texture. The finish is dry, with smoke lingering.
