Jefferson's Ocean Aged At Sea is a Kentucky bourbon bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle. Jefferson's was founded in 1997, a few minutes from Louisville. In 2012 Trey Zoeller loaded three barrels of his bourbon onto a ship, the M.V. OCEARCH, and they travelled the Pacific for four years.
The sea air, changing temperatures and constant motion gave the bourbon deep caramel notes and a sweet, salty character. Today the casks cross the equator at least four times and call at over 30 ports on five continents before bottling.
The nose combines vanilla, wood, grain and salted caramel with faint floral hints. The palate is sweet and lightly peppery, with caramel, vanilla and citrus. The finish carries cereal, brown sugar, smoke and salted caramel.
