Jefferson's Reserve Twin Oak Custom Barrel is a Kentucky straight bourbon that has been matured twice. Fully matured bourbon is moved into a custom-designed wave barrel, built with flash charred, toasted grooved staves, for a second maturation.
The grooves increase the surface area of the wood, so more bourbon meets more oak at any moment. This makes it a double barrelled whiskey rather than a finished one. It is bottled at 45.1% (90.2 proof).
The nose offers caramel and vanilla with toasted oak and baking spice. The palate brings butterscotch, dark fruit, cinnamon and nutmeg over a firm oak base, and the finish is warm and long, ending on toasted wood and gentle spice.
