John Begg Gold Cap is a blended whisky dating from the 1960s. It is gold in colour. The nose is of shoe polish and soot, with old papers, old spices and old spicy aquavit. The palate is very spicy, with oranges, plenty of cinnamon and white pepper, then increasing caramel and praline. It keeps developing for five minutes or more, towards spicy orange cake and caramel. The finish is quite long and spicy, with herbal teas and the same spices.
