This is a 50-year-old blended Scotch whisky from Johnnie Walker, released as Excelsior in a limited edition. It was distilled in 1947 and bottled in 1997 for Japan.
The whisky was double matured in Port casks and is bottled at 43% in a 75cl bottle.
The nose is rich and fruit-led, with jujube, raisin, ripe orange, mineral notes, menthol and Demerara sugar. With time, gala apple and sandalwood come through.
