Jura – 21 Year Old Tide (46.7%)

Jura 21 Year Old Tide is a single malt from the island distillery of Jura, bottled at 46.7%. It is described as full-bodied and peaty, with rich sweetness and a subtle smoky finish. The whisky spent 21 years in American white oak casks that previously held bourbon. It was then finished in hand-picked virgin American white oak, where the charred wood adds a small but definite touch of smoke that does not come from the malting. The nose is of crème caramel and sweet fruit salad, with ginger in dried coconut and marzipan. The palate is sweet and smoky, with macaroons, allspice and ginger cake, then white chocolate and marzipan. The finish brings citrus, coconut and light smoke.
