Kaiyo Mizunara Oak Cask Strength Japanese Whisky (75cl, 53%)

Kaiyo Mizunara Oak Cask Strength is a Japanese whisky made from 100% malted barley and bottled at 53% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It was aged entirely in handmade Japanese mizunara oak casks and finished at sea, a wood the producer describes as rare. The nose is sandalwood, tea leaf and marshmallow cream. On the palate come roasted nuts, marzipan, toffee, banana and vanilla, with woody, meaty notes. The finish is long, opening with sweetness before oriental spice and subtle vegetal, umami notes.
