Kanosuke – 2021 Second Edition Cask Strength (70cl, 57%)

Kanosuke 2021 Second Edition is a cask strength single malt from Kanosuke Distillery in Kagoshima, bottled at 57% in a 70cl bottle. It was distilled in 2018 from unpeated malt, using all three of the distillery's pot stills. Barrels of several kinds of oak were blended after three years of maturation, with re-charred bourbon barrels at the heart of the blend. The distillery describes it through the idea of "Mellow Land, Mellow Whisky", and it matures beside the sea. Yellow amber in colour, it has a nose of citrus, green apple, vanilla and lemon tea. The palate brings honey, Nikki cinnamon and grapefruit, and the finish is elegantly sweet with a pleasant bitterness.
