Kanosuke Double Distillery 2025 Limited Edition (70cl, 59%)

This is a 2025 limited release from Kanosuke Distillery in Kagoshima, Japan, bottled at 59% in a 70cl bottle. It unites Hioki's pot still whisky with Kanosuke's single malt, and marks 140 years of family tradition. Both whiskies were matured in re-charred ex-shochu casks, with a small amount of whisky matured in rum casks added at the end. Ex-sherry casks are also listed. The name refers to two brothers and two distilleries continuing their grandfather's work. The colour is bright amber. The nose has dried apricot, plum jam, canelé, custard cream and Japanese cinnamon. The palate offers ripe pear, apple, white peach, raisin, ginger and crème brûlée. The finish brings salted caramel and a gentle oak aftertaste.
