This is a cask strength Japanese single malt from the Kanosuke Hioki Pot Still range, bottled at 61% in a 70cl bottle and released in 2024 as a travel retail exclusive for Haneda Airport Tokyo. The Mellow Bar Reserve is meant to bring the experience of the distillery's tasting room to travellers.
Pot Still is a style inspired by Irish pot still whisky, distilled from malted and unmalted barley in stainless steel pot stills under vacuum pressure at Hioki Distillery. It was matured at the Kanosuke Distillery warehouse in new American white oak casks and ex-bourbon barrels.
The colour is deep amber. The nose brings apricot, plum jam, vanilla and buttered toast, and the finish is long and rich.
