Kanosuke 'Rainbow Girl' Single Malt Single Cask (70cl, 61%)

This is a single cask Kanosuke single malt from Kagoshima, bottled at a natural cask strength of 61% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky spent about three years in a shochu cask and a further two in a red wine cask, and the release runs to 258 bottles. The label, titled 'The Rainbow Girl', is the second collaboration with the artist Saumya Bharati. Its colours show sunlight breaking through rain. The nose brings baked apple, prunes and cashews in brown sugar, with vanilla ice cream and a hint of tea leaf. On the palate are caramel fudge, cacao nibs, pink grapefruit and ripe cherry. The finish is creamy salted caramel with a clean citrus aftertaste.
