A single cask Japanese single malt from Kanosuke Distillery in Kagoshima Prefecture, made from heavily peated malt and aged for five years in a first-fill bourbon barrel. It is bottled at a cask strength of 60% without chill filtration, in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was matured along the Kagoshima coast, and combines bourbon oak influence with a coastal profile and peat smoke.
The nose has caramel custard, poached apples, cinnamon, vanilla bean and gentle coastal peat smoke. The palate is full-bodied, with orchard fruit, honey, baking spices, citrus zest and peat. The finish brings black tea tannins, lemon peel, toasted oak and salty-sweet smoke.
