This single malt from Kanosuke Distillery in Kagoshima was bottled to mark the first Whisky & Spirits Fes Saga, held on 2 June 2024. It is a heavily peated malt, distilled in 2020 and matured in a bourbon barrel until 2024, bottled from a single cask at 61% ABV in a 70cl bottle. There are 201 bottles.
The label shows Shigenobu Okuma, the Saga-born politician and educator who served twice as Prime Minister of Japan and founded Waseda University.
Fruit sits at the front, woven with a strong peaty aroma. Despite the strength, it stays mellow, with a pleasant mouthfeel and good balance.
