This is the first edition of Kanosuke single malt, a Japanese whisky from the Kanosuke distillery in Kagoshima, founded in 2017. It was released on 16 June 2021 as a limited edition and bottled at a cask strength of 58% ABV.
The spirit was distilled between 2017 and 2018 and matured for three years, mainly in re-charred American white oak casks that previously held Mellowed Kozuru rice shochu.
The nose has lime, plum and raisin butter. The palate is mellow and woody, with vanilla and Nikki cinnamon. The finish is bittersweet, with chocolate-coated candied orange peel and a gentle sea breeze.
