A 2022 limited edition single malt from Kanosuke Distillery in Kagoshima, Japan, in a 70cl bottle. It is made from unpeated malt barley, bottled at a cask strength of 59% ABV without dilution, and has a reddish amber colour.
Sherry casks lead its character, joined by malt whisky matured in various unspecified oak casks and vatted after a minimum of three years of maturation.
The nose brings lemon tea, honey, ume plum and a little nikki spice. Dried red berries, chocolate and coffee candy follow on the palate, with a subtle woodiness behind them. The finish is long and spicy, with a faint astringency that recalls ume.
