Kanosuke Single Malt 2023 Limited Edition is a Japanese single malt from Kanosuke Distillery in Kagoshima, bottled at a cask strength of 59% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is the distillery's fourth limited edition, released in 2023.
It is made with peated malt, distilled between 2018 and 2019. The spirit matured for over three years, mainly in shochu re-charred casks and sherry casks along with several other cask types, and multiple casks were then vatted together.
The nose is smoky, with banana, custard cream and cinnamon candy. The palate offers red bean paste, brown sugar, black tea and blood orange. The finish brings summer citrus and Sichuan pepper, then lingering woody smoke.
