Kanosuke Single Malt Peated Japanese Whisky (70cl, 48%)

A peated single malt from Kanosuke Distillery in Kagoshima, and the first limited-edition peated release in the distillery's flagship Single Malt series. It is called Breeze and is meant to capture the character shaped by the sea winds of Fukiagehama. It is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle and is non-chill-filtered. Peated whiskies form the key malt, vatted with selected finished whiskies from re-charred ex-shochu casks and bourbon barrels. It received Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2025. Golden amber in colour, it has blackcurrant, caramel and honey butter on the nose, with baguette and gentle bonito dashi. The palate brings quince candy, pear, kumquat compote and smoked bacon, and the finish is long, with quince and a hint of kumquat peel.
