Kanosuke – Single Malt Sherry Casks Vatted (70cl, 48%)

This is a limited edition from the Kanosuke Single Malt series, made at the Kanosuke Distillery in Kagoshima, Japan. It vats whiskies distilled in three pot stills and matured in several cask types, with Oloroso and Cream sherry casks at the centre. Shochu casks add a gentle Japanese spice, and a little new American white oak adds brightness. It is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. The colour is reddish amber. The nose has dark cherry, vanilla, Japanese cinnamon and raspberry. The palate brings soft raisins, dark chocolate, cloves and fruit pound cake. The finish is long, with tropical mangosteen and a subtle oaky dryness.
