This is a Karuizawa whisky named Sea Dragon, distilled in 2000 and bottled in 2013. It was matured entirely in a sherry butt, number 166, and bottled at 64.3% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is wild and tight, with sharp spirit and kerosene, cherry liqueur, plum, pomegranate and a little black liquorice. The palate is powerful, moving between crusty bread with cherry jam, soft malt, caramel, dark honey, sweet liquorice and a mahogany wardrobe, with a peppermint note like an After Eight. The finish is very long and warm, with aniseed, peppermint, fine wood and black cherries.
