A Japanese blended malt from the 1990s, 12 years old and bottled at 43% ABV in a 76cl bottle. It is the Special Old expression of Sanraku Ocean's Karuizawa Ocean Whisky, and it combines Karuizawa whisky with other single malt, with Karuizawa making up the majority.
Karuizawa was founded in 1955 by the wine company Daikoku Budoshu, in the foothills of Mount Asama in Nagano Prefecture. It used Golden Promise barley imported from Scotland, and production ceased entirely in 2001.
