Karuizawa – Original Bottling by Mercian 17 Years Old 100% Malt Whisky in Decanter (70cl, 40%)

This is Karuizawa 17 Years Old, an original bottling by Mercian from the closed Japanese distillery, bottled at 40% in a 70cl crystal decanter. It was matured in European oak sherry casks. The whisky reportedly combines peated and unpeated malt aged between 17 and 30 years. Karuizawa stood on the slopes of Mount Asama in Nagano prefecture and was founded in 1955 by Daikoku Budoshu. It used imported Golden Promise barley, small stills and sherry casks from Spain, and production stopped in 2000.
