Kavalan – Classic Single Malt (70cl, 40%)

Kavalan Classic is a Taiwanese single malt, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It was the first single malt released by the Yilan distillery, and it has been on the market since 2008. The name Kavalan comes from an old name for the Yilan region. It is a blend of malts matured in bourbon casks, sherry casks and refill casks. Taiwan's hot, humid summers speed up the exchange between spirit and wood. The nose is tropical fruit, with mango, coconut, pear and light florals, and a little vanilla at the end. The palate is smooth and full, with mango juice, honey and gentle oak spice. The finish is clean, warm and long, with tropical fruit and a light caramel sweetness.
