Kavalan Classic is a single malt from the Kavalan Distillery in Yilan County, Taiwan, bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It was first released in 2008, three years after the distillery opened in 2005.
The whisky is aged in ex-bourbon, ex-sherry and refill casks in a hot, humid subtropical climate, and it is made with Snow Mountain spring water.
Mango leads the nose, alongside orchid, vanilla, honey, coconut and pear. The palate is silky and full-bodied, with mango juice, honey, vanilla, gentle oak spice and a lift of citrus. The finish is medium, oily and warm, with tropical fruit and caramel.
