Kavalan ex-Bourbon Oak is a Taiwanese malt made by reducing Solist ex-Bourbon with Kavalan spring water to 46% ABV. It is pale golden in colour and comes in a 70cl bottle.
The reduction takes away the harshness and the alcohol edge, leaving a smooth whisky with a soft sweetness. The nose is clean, with fresh tropical fruit, vanilla, coconut and spices.
On the palate it is soft and well balanced, with natural sweetness, vanilla and oak spices, and a round, complex, silky texture.
