Kavalan – Ex-Bourbon Oak (70cl, 46%)

This is a single malt from the Kavalan distillery in Taiwan, bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It sits between the distillery's standard bottlings and its Solist single cask releases. It matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and is bottled in batches, each made from a larger selection of casks aged between 4 and 6 years. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The nose brings tropical fruit, intense vanilla, coconut and some oak. The palate is soft and velvety, with vanilla, sweet toffee, plenty of tropical fruit, coconut and fine oak. The finish is long, sweet and fruity, with a little oak.
