Kavalan – LÁN Taiwan Single Malt Whisky (70cl, 43%)

Kavalan LÁN is a Taiwanese single malt from the Kavalan Distillery in Yilan, named after the orchid. It is bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The whisky is a vatting from three kinds of cask. Bourbon casks add vanilla and structure, port casks bring depth of fruit, and STR-treated wine casks contribute caramelised fruit and spice. It is chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The nose is orchid, jasmine, rose and peony with honeydew melon, creamy vanilla and caramel. The palate is lively and smooth, with floral freshness, ripe fruit, vanilla and fine chocolate. The finish is long, with cinnamon, walnut and a refined woody spice.
