Kavalan – Lan Taiwanese Single Malt Whisky

Kavalan Lan is a Taiwanese single malt named as a tribute to Yilan, the birthplace of the Kavalan distillery. Lan is also the Chinese character for orchid, a nod to Yilan's reputation as the Kingdom of Orchids. The whisky draws on three kinds of cask: bourbon barrels, port casks and Vinho wine casks treated with Kavalan's STR technique, which involves shaving, toasting and recharring. It is described as light and elegant, with vanilla from the bourbon barrels, nutty and floral aromas from the port casks, and a caramelised, fruity sweetness with dessert and nutty woody tones.
