Kavalan – Sherry Cask Solist

Kavalan Sherry Cask Solist is a single cask whisky from Taiwan, matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks. It has a dark mahogany colour and an intense, concentrated character. The warm, humid conditions in Taiwan are part of what gives it depth. Bottlings are usually at cask strength, typically between 57 and 60% ABV. The nose is raisins, figs and dates with dark chocolate, coffee and a touch of leather. On the palate, dark cherries, nuts, clove and cinnamon are held in check by the gentle bitterness of dark chocolate and toasted wood. The finish is very long, with sherry sweetness, woody spices and a hint of tobacco.
