Kavalan Solist Madeira Cask is a single-cask Taiwanese single malt, selected by Truth Malters for its Chapter #5 release. The whisky was distilled in 2015, matured for five years and six months in a Madeira cask, and bottled at a cask strength of 57.8%. The outturn was 223 bottles.
Madeira influence sits alongside Kavalan's tropical fruit character, with honey, toffee, nuts, warming spice and aromatic oak.
Fresh grape and apple open the nose, followed by honey, cinnamon, toffee and almond. The palate is creamy, with melon, apricot, fig and marmalade, and the finish is long and juicy, with oak spice and caramelised butter.
