Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique is a single cask whisky from Kavalan in Yilan, Taiwan, bottled at a cask strength of 54.8% exclusively for the Swiss importer Lateltin. The bottling comes to 226 bottles.
It matured in used wine barriques of American oak that had been toasted and charred, which passes fruity vanilla notes from the wood into the spirit.
The nose brings vanilla and caramelised sugar with dark chocolate on top, then ripe melon, mango, kiwi and a little citrus, with pepper in the background. The palate adds spice and dates, and the finish is clean, complex and long.
