A cask-strength single cask single malt from Kavalan, distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2016.
It was matured fully in used American oak wine barrels that have been toasted and recharred. The barrels held both red and white wines, and the whisky shows fruity vanilla notes over a background of pepper, spice and dates.
The nose is vanilla and caramelised sugars with dark chocolate on top, then ripe melon, mango, kiwi and citrus, with pepper behind. The palate is clean and complex, leading to a long aftertaste.
