Kavalan – Solist Vinho Barrique Single Cask Strength (70cl, 55.6%)

Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique is a single cask, cask strength whisky from Taiwan, bottled in 2015 at 55.6% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was matured fully in used American oak wine barrels that had been toasted and recharred. The barrels had held both red and white wines, which adds a fruity background to the vanilla notes from the spirit and wood. The nose combines vanilla, caramelised sugar and dark chocolate with ripe melon, mango, kiwi and citrus, with pepper behind. The palate is clean and complex, with a long aftertaste.
